Simplistic band member Nick talking about Mike
Here is a letter from Simplistic band member, Nick talking about Mike's role with helping out the band and more:
Hey Everybody,
To explain our situation more in detail...
Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park has started his own record label called The Shinoda Imprint. The Shinoda Imprint has given us a record contract that provides us with the money to get our start in the mainstream music industry. In the contract, they have set aside a 'demo fund' to pay for us to work with Mike Shinoda on getting our songs perfected and changing anything that we feel could be improved. It will also pay for us to go into a professional studio with Mike and record our four best songs. This process, between now and the time that 4 song demo is completely finished will be 9 months. That's called the 'Initial Period'.
After that, we start what's called 'The Shopping Period'. During the shopping period we will take that demo that we made with Mike along with everything else that represents Simplistic, such as our website, our band biography, our live performance, and our fanbase, and show everything to all the major corperate record labels in the country and see what kind of offers for a 'distribution deal' we can get. This period will also be either 9 months or maybe shorter depending on how fast the major record labels make us offers to pick up the band and Mike's record label.
After this 18 months (or maybe shorter), we will have everything we need to make our debut full length CD and get it distributed world-wide and played on radio and MTV (if everything goes well).
A good example of this kind of situation is Limp Bizkit bringing up Puddle of Mudd. Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit saw potential in Puddle of Mudd and did this same thing for them and now Puddle of Mudd is Huge. Another example (for those of us who cringe at the thought of Limp Bizkit or Puddle of Mudd) is Papa Roach bringing up Alien Ant Farm or Korn bringing up Limp Bizkit. This will be a really good way for us to get our foot in the door and get recognized in mainstream music.
This whole process is going to take a while... probably almost a year and a half, but it will definitely be worth it after it is over. During this year and a half, the band will be working extremely hard. We may have to cut out some things like playing shows as often as we do so that we can focus on writing new songs and improving the old ones, getting everything ready for our debut full length album.
During this time it is really important that we keep growing our fanbase and getting the name out to as many people as possible because that is one of the things that major record labels look at is how good we did on our own getting fans. This is where you guys come in... We will start doing things like sending you stacks of flyers to pass out in your town and sending you CDs to show to your friends. Just keep up the good work spreading the word and telling everyone you can about Simplistic. We appreciate your help and we will keep you all updated on this whole process.
Thanks Everyone! Nick K.
